Medication Drop Boxes a Success

Posted on January 12, 2017

Since Medication Collection Boxes were installed at five local police departments, residents disposed of 2839.8 pounds of unwanted and expired drugs for proper, environmentally safe disposal. The public-private partnership that established the drop boxes in March 2014, consists of the Brandywine Health Foundation, Coatesville Youth Initiative (CYI), Pennsylvania American Water and local law enforcement in the City of Coatesville, Caln Township, West Brandywine Township, West Caln Township and Valley Township.

The secure drop boxes are located at the five police departments for the public to deposit unused, excess or expired prescription medications. The police departments provide this service to the community at large, enabling any person to drop unused prescription medications anonymously and with no questions asked 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.
